Australia's Physical Activity Problem

Here's a quick outline of what we know when it comes to our nation's children and their physical activity patterns inside and outside of schools.

Did you know?

Schools are required to deliver a minimum of 150 minutes of planned moderate with some vigorous phyiscal activity throughout a school week.

Australia's Physical Activity and Sedentry Behaviour Guidelines

A child should be invovled in 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity every day and activities that strengthen muscle and bone 3 days a week.

The reality...

Roughly 1 in 5 children are meeting the required physical activity levels in a day.

Roughly 1 in 5 children are above the healthy weight level.

The solution... EXERGAMES!

"Principals and teachers need to consider the expertise and approaches of external providers in the delivery of Physical Education" (NSW Department of Education, 2019).
